GSE&IS Joins UCLA Anderson School of Management to Present TED Talks

Eva Baker, Jean-François Blanchette, and Carlos Torres will represent GSE&IS faculty at this signature event.

The Graduate School of Education & Information Studies joins its partnership with UCLA’s Anderson School of Management to present “TED 2013: The Young. The Wise. The Undiscovered,” Feb. 26-28 at UCLA. All panels will be taking place at Anderson’s Gold Hall; a RSVP is not required.

Anderson’s association with TED, which was established last year, provides an interactive opportunity for the UCLA community to take part in the annual TED Conference via streaming video of the event in Long Beach. These live talks will be complemented by panels of UCLA experts from Anderson, Luskin, and GSE&IS.

Professor of education Carlos Torres, who leads the Social Science and Comparative Education Division and directs the UCLA Paulo Freire Institute, is among the scheduled panelist speakers from GSE&IS. Eva Baker, director of UCLA’s Center for Research on Evaluation, Standards, and Student Testing (CRESST) and Jean-François Blanchette, associate professor of information studies, are scheduled to speak at The Campfire, the week’s closing evening gala event, featuring UCLA’s own TED-inspired stories and breakthroughs from students and faculty.
